TITANIC'S ALTERNATIVE ENDING

I guess you're aware of the ending in the Titanic movie and how Jack died for not getting on the board with Rose. Much has been said about it since the dimensions of the table were sufficient for both of them to have gotten out of there alive.
Was it Jack's thing? Was it Rose's thing? I don't know, I don't remember the details, but I'm sure this other couple would have written a totally different alternative ending.
