WATCH OUT FOR THE SECURITY OF LIBRARIES

23-years-old Kia Simmons, head of security for the New Orleans Library, was arrested in early August of this year after shooting a man in the street. Apparently the man caused some disorder inside the Library and was asked to leave the premises. I think he must have refused to leave, and when they eventually stepped out, he threw something at Simmons, who did not hesitate to take out her weapon and shoot up to 7 times. As if that amount of shots weren't enough, she decided to fire 4 additional shots at the guy, probably because he was already moving.

ILLEGAL RACES AND SHOOTINGS

This past weekend, as usual, there has been an illegal concentration of cars in one of the many districts of Miami-Dade: Illegal races, drifts and other acts to show off. One car skidded out of control and collided with another one. The owner of the latter came out armed and opened fire on the car, and the receiver of these shots didn't hesitate to accelerate as fast as he could to escape out of there, running over people who were in the area.
As a result of the shooting, three different people were hit by bullets, two people inside the car and a passerby.

NEVER PISS OFF A PREGNANT WOMAN

A man tells off and threatens a couple at a gas station with a gun. He finally assaults the man and the woman pulls a gun from her bag and shoots the aggressor.
After that, the couple called the police. The officers arrested the husband and wife, but after checking the security cameras, they were released without charges. The aggressor, who rests in the hospital, has been charged with aggravated assault and illegal possession of a weapon.

The work of security staff in events, factories, shopping centers or supermarkets is little recognized and valued. These people risk a lot of things. There's a lot of jerks out there and by statistics, if you're a security guard, sooner or later you're going to have to deal with one of those jerks. If only they gave you a gun. Hey, a shot in the knee is like giving a kid a good slap on time: it will save you a lot of problems in the future.
