The Burning Man is a mix between a hippy party and a post-apocalyptic meeting of characters from Mad Max films. It's a 1-week alternative festival which takes place every year in Nevada's desert. Despite what you could think at first sight, the festival isn't full of people in tattered clothes because the ticket costs almost $400.
It's an artistic festival where commerce's forbidden, where you have to be self-sufficient and where cleaning and alternative clothes play an important part.

ED ROSS AND WET PLATE COLLODION

Wet plate collodion is an ancient photographic process developed in the 1850s that allowed the creation of images on glass plates. It involves sensitizing a glass plate with a solution of silver nitrate and collodion (a viscous substance), then exposing it while still wet and immediately developing it thereafter. This produced unique images with a high level of detail and sharpness. The process was popular in the 19th century and was used in fields such as portrait and documentary photography. Although it was replaced by more practical and convenient methods, wet plate collodion is still appreciated for its vintage aesthetic and artisanal process.

One of those who wanted to revive this ancient technique was the late lawyer and photographer Ed Ross. This gentleman was one of those who believed that any past time was better and, instead of being swayed by technology, he focused on this developing process, obtaining photographs as attractive as those you'll see below.
Portraits with a completely vintage look and so intriguing that I'm surprised Instagram hasn't included it among its filters.

Shibari is a style of Japanese art that involves rope tying in an aesthetic and decorative manner. It is also known as Kinbaku, which means "to tie tightly" in Japanese. This art has developed over centuries in Japan and has evolved both in terms of techniques and cultural significance.

Shibari involves specific rope tying techniques applied to a person's body in a way that can be both aesthetically beautiful and functional. It is often practiced in the context of erotic arts and BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Dominance, Submission, Sadism, and Masochism), although it can also be practiced as an independent art form or as an experience of connection and trust between two people.

Shibari requires technical skills and a deep understanding of human anatomy and psychology. Practitioners often study with experienced masters and practice carefully to ensure the safety and comfort of those being tied.

In recent years, Shibari has gained popularity outside of Japan as a form of artistic expression, eroticism, and emotional connection between consenting partners.
