SKATING
It all started with ice. Long before roller skates as we know them existed, people were already sliding across frozen surfaces—sometimes out of necessity, sometimes just for fun. Ice skating goes back centuries, and that’s where the idea came from: what if we could skate... on dry land?
The answer showed up in the 18th century, with the first attempts to recreate that gliding sensation on solid ground.
Early skates had wheels in line, but they were tough to control. That’s why, for over a hundred years, the ones that really took off were quad skates—two axles, four wheels, and way more stability.
They became a pop culture icon: in parks, at rinks, at parties. Skating was dancing, moving, showing off your style.
Then, toward the end of the 20th century, the cycle spun again: inline skates made a comeback. With better materials, sleeker designs, and way more versatility.
It wasn’t just about balance anymore—it was speed, agility, sport, adrenaline. And ever since, skating’s kept evolving.
Times change, wheels change. But the urge to skate? That’s still rolling strong.
