Toronto Police advises citizens to reduce the risk of home invasions for car theft by placing key fobs near the front door. This strategy is suggested because criminals break into houses mainly to access cars, not to steal other items.

I mean, why not also put out a plate of cookies and a glass of milk in case they come hungry?

This news reminded me of the movie "Demolition Man" starring Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes where, in a not-so-farfetched future, we had become so stupid that the bad guys did as they pleased because the police were incapable of confronting them.
