CONFLICT, DIVISION, AND GROUP MEMBERSHIP
The human need to belong to groups is innate. Identifying with certain teams, communities, or ideologies gives us a sense of belonging and connection with others.
Group affiliations often become part of our personal identity. We define ourselves in relation to the associations we have, whether at a sports, political, or cultural level.
Add to this the dichotomy of "you're either with me or against me" promoted by politics, and you have the perfect cocktail for the Israel/Palestine conflict to be so heavily instrumentalized.
