BIKEJORING AND THE DANGER OF TREES

Can you imagine swapping the snow and sled for a mountain bike and solid ground? That's exactly what some adventurers have done by merging the world of mushing (dog sledding) with mountain biking. This sport, known as "bikejoring," involves one or more dogs pulling a bike instead of a sled, bringing the thrill of the sport to non-snowy terrains and adapting the experience to mountain trails and dirt paths.

Bikejoring is not only an adrenaline rush for the cyclist but also an excellent workout for the dogs, who enjoy the speed and the outdoors while working in sync with their owner. With specially designed harnesses that allow the dogs to run freely and a proper attachment system to the bike for control, this discipline has become increasingly popular among outdoor sports enthusiasts.

That being said, be extra cautious if there are trees along the route.

THEY USED TO GUARD THE HOUSE. NOW THEY JUST WATCH IT FROM THE COUCH

There was a time when having a dog was like having a personal bodyguard. They'd warn you, protect you, and if needed, tear someone’s arm off for getting too close. They were guardians, herders, hunters. They had a purpose. They earned their food.
But now? Two guys break in through the living room, smash the glass, ransack the place… and your pair of Frenchies just sit there on the couch, watching the whole thing like it's a new Netflix series. They bark, sure. But only a little. Wouldn’t want to get anxious or anything.

And the worst part? You don’t even blame them. Deep down, you didn’t expect anything else. Because they’re not dogs anymore — they’re children. And you don’t expect your kid to bite a burglar. You just make sure they’re wearing a jacket when it’s chilly and give them some ham when they’re sad.
We’ve changed so much that even they don’t know what they’re supposed to do anymore. If someone breaks in, they hesitate: do I bark? Call the cops? Post a story?

In the end, we’re the ones doing the watching. We check the living room cam, the webcam, to see if they’ve chewed the cushion, if they’re okay, if they’re crying because we’re not home.
You don’t need them to save your life anymore (homicide rates in the West are at an all-time low). What you really need is for them to save your heart — because with every passing day, like it or not, we’re just a little more alone.

RETURNING IT TO WHERE IT BELONGS

Rescuing a little bird, caring for it, and setting it free back into nature was a short but powerful moment. Animals constantly face tough challenges: finding food, escaping predators, and braving extreme weather. Nature is a harsh place, and death is just part of the cycle.

So, if you find an injured bird and have the chance to help it, it’s a noble act. The best part is that moment when you release it, letting it go back to where it belongs. It’s a small reminder of nature’s beauty, even if it’s fleeting. Now, onto the next little bird in need…
