SO CONNECTED YET SO ALONE
This whole thing of forecasting trends or paradigm shifts has never been my thing. Most of the time I fail. I think that the shots are going to go one way but they end up going another, or things that I see clearly that are going to happen, never actually happen and vice versa, but now that we have AI, the face filters, the social networks, the metaverse, the sentimental relationships and sex, I think that a very big social change is going to take place quite soon.
Nowadays, they say that almost 40% of couples meet through the Internet, and that number is increasing.
For those who are physically unprepossessing or excessively shy in person, the Internet makes things easy. Talking through networks from your home gives you more security, and that allows you to get to know many more people. However, what happens when you have to show yourself to the other? That's where filters and AI come in, fixing flaws and making you much more attractive. The thing is, how are you going to take the leap to meet another person face-to-face, if you have sold them someone you are not?
Simple, you won't. You will settle for reinforcing your sentimental and emotional ties from the comfort your home and, who knows if over time they will invent a gadget that allows you to simulate being together via holograms.
I've spoken.
