INFORMATION MANIPULATION
Information manipulation by the media to justify or defend a cause can have various purposes and origins, often involving distortion of information to promote a particular agenda.
The purposes of information manipulation can include propaganda, using the media to disseminate biased or false information to influence public opinions and attitudes toward a particular cause or group. Narrative control, shaping public perception on a specific issue to favor certain political, economic, or social interests. And disinformation, spreading misleading or false information to confuse the public and discredit opponents or competitors.
Interests can be political, involving parties or governments that may use the media to promote their agendas and gain popular support. Corporate interests, involving companies or interest groups that may influence media coverage to promote their products, services, or ideologies. Organizations or lobbying groups that use information manipulation to pressure the media to present information favorably to their objectives. Or foreign actors, such as governments or extremist groups, who may try to influence public opinion in other countries through disinformation campaigns in the media.
