THE EROTICISM OF HORST KISTNER

Horst Kistner, born in 1969 in Würzburg, Germany, worked as an advertising photographer for 22 years for prestigious companies such as GU, Bertelsmann, and Time Life in London. In 2010, he decided to leave his commercial photography career to fully dedicate himself to photography as a form of artistic expression, turning it into one of his greatest passions.

Kistner stands out as a master of German photographic technique and is considered an old-school light shaper. The chiaroscuro in his compositions bears a deep connection to classical painting and is inspired by 1950s American cinema, particularly the works of Alfred Hitchcock.

Kistner's photographic work is both sensual and melancholic, with various elements, along with his masterful use of light, transforming his images into true visual poems.

BIKEJORING AND THE DANGER OF TREES

Can you imagine swapping the snow and sled for a mountain bike and solid ground? That's exactly what some adventurers have done by merging the world of mushing (dog sledding) with mountain biking. This sport, known as "bikejoring," involves one or more dogs pulling a bike instead of a sled, bringing the thrill of the sport to non-snowy terrains and adapting the experience to mountain trails and dirt paths.

THE CURE FOR SADNESS IN THE MIDDLE AGES

In the Middle Ages, masturbation held a controversial place in society. On one hand, the Church condemned it as a grave sin, associating it with immorality and eternal damnation. However, in medieval medicine, opinions were not always as strict. Some medical texts of the time suggested that masturbation, though morally questionable, could actually offer health benefits. It was believed that releasing "bodily humors" (fluids that, according to the medical theory of the time, controlled the balance of body and mind) through masturbation could help alleviate certain ailments. For instance, melancholia, a psychological condition we would now associate with depression, was sometimes treated with masturbation as a way to "balance" the humors and release deep-seated sadness. The paradox here is quite fascinating: while the Church preached that the act condemned the soul, some doctors recommended it as a physical and emotional cure.
