As if it were the Wild West, train robbery is back in fashion, but instead of stealing money from the central bank or robbing passengers, now it is UPS, FedEx and Amazon packages that are being stolen.
Piles of empty boxes scattered along the train tracks. Organized groups of people who assault the wagons when they stop, force the containers and take the cargo.
Union Pacific, one of the nation's largest rail companies, says it may avoid operating in Los Angeles County following a surge in thefts, which attributes to the way petty crimes are currently being prosecuted.

Last year we already talked about how in cities like San Francisco petty theft has been decriminalized for the sake of not saturating justice, so many supermarket chains have ordered their employees not to interfere with "customers" who want to steal something. It is better to assume the percentage of losses than to undergo legal proceedings.
