Black day, blacklist, dark humor, black sheep, seeing things in black, black future, black magic, black numbers—unless we’re talking about your bank account. Even the night, when it gets too black, gives off weird vibes. Poor color’s been stuck with all the bad PR in the book.

But every now and then, black gives us a reason to celebrate. And no, I’m not talking about Black Friday or a strong cup of coffee. I’m talking about black lingerie—the kind that can turn an ordinary day into the best one of the month.

RAMS INTO COP AND GETS SHOT

What started as a routine police check in Bismarck, North Dakota, ended in tragedy. On March 7, police shot and killed 53-year-old Melanie Udell after she rammed an officer with her car. The whole thing was caught on bodycam.

Officers Matthew James and Nathan Anderson responded to a suspicious vehicle call. A witness had reported a disoriented woman inside a white Chevy, even fearing she might try to run him over. When they arrived, Officer James began calmly talking to Udell—until he caught a strong smell of weed and booze. He asked her to step out, but she refused. Instead, she started the engine and drove straight at him.
James barely dodged the car, but Udell wasn’t done. She turned the wheel, hit the gas, and slammed into him. He went flying into a fence, lost his weapon, and ended up partially trapped under the barrier—right in the car’s path.

At that point, Officer Anderson opened fire, killing Udell behind the wheel. Her car stopped in a snowbank just a few feet from the injured officer.
James was hospitalized with injuries to his head, leg, and hands. He’s been discharged but will need knee surgery and is expected to be out of service for about a year.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation ruled that Anderson’s use of force was justified. Both officers are currently on leave pending further review.

FROM LA CALAVERA GARBANCERA TO LA CATRINA

It all started as social satire. In the early 1900s, Mexican illustrator José Guadalupe Posada sketched a skeleton wearing an elegant European-style hat—and nothing else. He called it La Calavera Garbancera, and the drawing was a jab at people of humble or indigenous background who rejected their roots and tried to pass as Europeanized elites. “Garbanceros” were those who sold chickpeas instead of traditional maize, pretending to belong to a class they didn’t. Posada captured that hypocrisy with a grin: no matter how fancy you dress, in the end, we all turn into skeletons.

For years, that’s all it was—sharp, black-and-white social commentary. But everything changed when Diego Rivera brought her back to life in one of his most iconic murals, Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in the Alameda Central. There, the skeleton appears fully dressed in a long gown, more refined, and surrounded by historical Mexican figures. That’s when she finally got the name everyone knows today: La Catrina.

From that moment on, she stopped being a symbol of mockery and became an icon of the Day of the Dead. Over time, her image took on color, flowers, makeup, and all the visual flair we now associate with her. Today, La Catrina is more than just a stylish skull—she’s a symbol of respect, humor, and pride in death as a part of life. She’s not scary, not grim. She’s art, tradition, and presence.

And even if she started as a critique, she’s evolved into something much bigger—a figure that represents not just death, but the way Mexico looks it in the eye, without fear… and with style.

A WELL-DESERVED PUNCH

There’s a deeply primitive kind of satisfaction in watching someone you can’t stand take a punch. You don’t even need to justify it—it’s instinctive, almost visceral. It’s not that we’re all naturally violent (well, not all of us), but something about that moment taps into the most basic part of how we process justice. It’s like the universe briefly realigns itself to pay that person back for every smug grin, every lie, every bit of hypocrisy, every arrogant outburst—distilled into one solid hit.

And it’s not really about the pain or the physical damage. It’s about what the punch represents. It’s what so many people have wanted to do but never could. A fleeting but powerful fantasy, where bottled-up rage finally gets an outlet and your ego gets a tiny taste of revenge. That’s why—even if we know it’s not the “right” thing, even if we’re not the punching type—there’s something oddly satisfying about watching the scales balance themselves out with a well-deserved punch.

There are things you just don’t need to buy when you can build them yourself with a bit of skill and four random parts. The classic prison tattoo machine is a perfect example. There’s no Amazon or AliExpress behind bars, but there’s plenty of imagination, patience, and—most importantly—access to old junk like walkmans or cassette players. That’s where you get the motor: small, steady, and with just the right spin to make something actually work.

Next, you need a body to guide the needle—and that’s where the legendary Bic pen comes in. You empty it out, cut it if needed, and it becomes the frame that holds the whole setup. You fix the motor however you can—with rubber bands, dental floss, scraps of fabric, or electrical tape. On the motor shaft, you attach a button—yeah, like the kind you sew on clothes—stuck on slightly off-center. That little imbalance is what turns the rotation into a mechanical back-and-forth motion.

Then you attach a thin wire or rod to that button, and that’s what moves the needle up and down inside the pen tube. A metal paperclip might come in handy here as part of the internal support, maybe to hold the motor or steady the tube. The key is making sure nothing flies apart once it starts buzzing.

To power it, a 9-volt battery does the trick, or an old phone charger if that’s what you’ve got. And that’s it. If you’ve put it together right, the needle moves up and down in a steady rhythm, and your DIY machine is good to go.

Now just make it bigger, stick a dildo on the tip… and boom, you’ve got yourself a fuck machine.
