When we have all our needs covered, we live well, we can go to the supermarket to buy food, we go shopping to renew our wardrobe, we can go to the movies, the theater, we can change our furniture or upgrade our smartphone, when we do not live in a continuous armed war, be it civil or against an invader, when we know that if we get sick we have access to health care and death is no longer around our heads so much, we can worry about other tasks such as the thoughts of "who is the person I will go to bed to and wake up with" and "what a world are we going to leave our children with so many cars and planes polluting the planet".

There is one thing that never ceases to amaze me with these people, who complain about capitalism and demonize money and companies: Human beings have not lived through a better time than where we are right now, in our entire history.

In general terms, the advancement of science, technology, and economic development have contributed to improvements in areas such as life expectancy, health, nutrition, education, access to information, and day-to-day comforts.
For example, in many parts of the world, life expectancy has increased considerably compared to past centuries. The industrial revolution and breakthroughs in medicine have enabled the development of vaccines, antibiotics, and medical treatments that have saved countless lives, in addition to the immediate availability of food and access to drinking water.
In terms of human rights and social justice, there have also been significant advances in many places. The fight for gender equality, civil rights and the abolition of slavery have led to positive changes in society. That's just how it is.

It is true that these improvements have not been distributed evenly throughout the world. Even if some countries and regions have made remarkable progress, others still face considerable challenges in terms of poverty, inequality and human rights violations, but all these advances began when private property in the means of production started to be respected. Capitalism is the economic system that has allowed us to improve at all levels. Is it a flawless system? No, it isn't. Can it be improved? Of course, but I prefer that system where there are 4 rich people and those 4 rich people allow us to live with some dignity, at least compared to other systems where we are all poor.

A MAN UNDERSTANDS THE MESSAGE AND GIVES ACTIVISTS WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR

A group of climate activists try to block the path of a driver on a road in Italy, but the driver has no intention of staying there for long.

Let's try to put some logic and understanding into all this. The activists, with these acts, aim to attract attention. Okay. They want the media to pick it up or for their videos to go viral on social media. It's their way of getting their message across to people. I mean, they don't block a road just for the sake of it. They want to cause disruption because they seek repercussions.

That being said, if they stand there and block traffic and people patiently wait for them to leave, there's no news there. They don't get the media to come over, and they don't generate content that goes viral on social media, unless they spend days blocking that road. Therefore, what they seek with their actions is to provoke because if they provoke people, test their patience, tense and anger them, and these people react, insult them, assault them, run them over, that's when content is created that spreads and reaches everywhere.

So, if this ever happens to you, beat them up or run them over with the car (Don't do this, it's just a figure of speech), since that's precisely what they want. Because if you do nothing, they get nothing.
