THE POPULARITY OF SIDESHOWS AND RIDEOUTS
Europe has been copying trends from the USA for decades, and phenomena like sideshows and rideouts are already being replicated in several Eurozone countries.
"Sideshows" became popular in the San Francisco Bay Area, particularly in Oakland, during the 1980s and 1990s. These events, where high-end cars gather, often involve burnouts, tire-smoking stunts, and other high-risk maneuvers, usually carried out in public spaces like intersections or parking lots. While they started as spontaneous gatherings for car enthusiasts, over time, they have become associated with illegal activities and safety concerns.
"Bike life rideouts," or simply "rideouts," refers to large gatherings of motorcyclists, often on sport bikes, dirt bikes, quads, or scooters, riding in massive groups and performing stunts like wheelies, burnouts, and other acrobatics, all while ignoring traffic rules and disrupting other drivers.
The "bike life" movement gained popularity in cities like Baltimore, New York, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. While some see it as a cultural or community expression, authorities consider it illegal due to the risks posed to participants and bystanders.
Hit and Beatdown
Apparently, there’s little the police can do to prevent these scenarios.
