THE OPTIMISM BIAS

The optimism bias is a psychological phenomenon used to describe individuals who tend to underestimate the risks associated with their own actions, leading them to believe they are less likely to experience a negative event. It's the classic "this won't happen to me" and "I'm in control" mindset.

Attitudes towards safety and risk awareness can be influenced by factors such as personality, life experience, education, culture, and individual beliefs.
Social, cultural, and familial environments can play a significant role in shaping attitudes toward risk. If a person grows up or lives in an environment where certain reckless behaviors are accepted or even encouraged, they are more likely to adopt those behaviors.
