Contención, or the ability to moderate our impulses, is key to maintaining harmony in society. While some people ignore these norms and act without restraint, if everyone did the same, we’d be living in total chaos. Contención isn’t about repression; it’s an act of responsibility and respect for the common good, allowing us to avoid conflicts and strengthen the social fabric. It’s the conscious choice to prioritize order and recognize that our actions impact others. Only in this way can we preserve a just and balanced society, rather than being swept into disorder.

And while contención is fundamental to keeping order, sometimes letting go and doing what truly feels right is incredibly liberating.

MID-AIR COLLISION INVOLVING THE FRENCH AEROBATIC TEAM

On March 25, two Alpha Jets from the Patrouille de France—the French Air Force’s aerobatic display team—collided mid-air during a training exercise near Air Base 113 in Saint-Dizier, eastern France. The two jets were performing maneuvers alongside four other aircraft when the incident occurred.

Both pilots and a passenger managed to eject in time and were found conscious. One of the jets crashed into a silo, causing an explosion, while the other went down in a nearby wooded and marshy area.

Authorities praised the pilots’ professionalism, claiming their actions prevented greater harm to civilians. But if you watch the footage, the story looks very different: the pilots eject instantly, bailing out as soon as the collision happens. They didn’t control anything—and realistically, it’s doubtful they even could in that situation. The fact that no one else was hurt seems more like pure luck than skilled maneuvering.

It's not entirely clear what's going on here. It might seem like the police car was chasing the other vehicle, but if you pay close attention, at the beginning of the video, there's another white car making the same move, exiting at the same spot. So maybe the driver realized he was blocking the police car and was just trying to get out of the way by taking the same exit. Who knows? Both possibilities seem valid. Whatever the case, the driver certainly isn't stopping to ask the officer if he's okay—he probably doesn't want to end up taking the blame himself.

Sure, they often earn applause, views, and even viral moments—but the line between success and tragedy is incredibly thin. A single slip, one wrong step, or the slightest distraction could mean losing absolutely everything in just seconds.

CHAIN-REACTION CRASH

On the morning of Saturday the 22nd, an incident occurred near the Montparnasse train station in Paris, leaving ten police officers slightly injured. It all started around 5:45 a.m. in the 14th arrondissement, when a driver refused to stop at a police checkpoint. Three police vehicles chased the suspect for several kilometers. Eventually, the fleeing driver lost control and crashed into a traffic light, causing the three police cars to collide with his vehicle—each one separately and at different moments.

The driver and his two passengers also sustained injuries, none life-threatening, and were arrested. Authorities suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol. And from the footage, you might wonder if the officers behind the wheel had also enjoyed a drink or two.
