The first dates from Roman times, where they divided life into 7-year cycles. They thought that the mirror did not reflect the body, if not the soul, therefore, to break a mirror, our soul would be trapped between the broken glass. How long? Simply a cycle of life. 7 years.
The other theory, more recent, takes us to the 15th century, when in Venice it became fashionable among the upper class to have huge mirrors at home with silver plates on the back. Being so expensive, if someone from the service staff broke it, they would have to work for free until their work time matched the price of the mirror. How much time, you might be wondering?
