In a certain way I can understand the Middle Age's fears, that people could think someone was a witch or possessed only because they were weird and their behavior not "normal".

I suppose some human beings, a few centuries ago, also had the necessity to express their feelings. Now we call them artists, and when we don't understand them, they're nuts, but we don't appeal to satanic beliefs neither we burn them at the stake... but so long ago, people were afraid and thought about witches' sabbath when they saw images like these ones.
