BASKETBALL AND WRESTLING

In order to score in basketball, several factors need to be taken into account, such as the distance, the height of the basket and the force used to throw the ball. This could be summarized with the following formula:

F = (m * g) + (0,5 * p * A * Cd * v^2)

where:

F is the force needed in Newtons.
m is the mass of the ball in kilograms.
g is the acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s^2).
p is the density of air (1.2 kg/m^3).
A is the frontal area of the ball in square meters.
Cd is the drag coefficient (0.47 for a basketball).
v is the speed of the ball in meters per second.

RUGBALL: BASKETBALL, WRESTLING AND RUGBY

In the beginning of the year we discovered Rugball, a sport that brings together basketball, Greco-roman wrestling and rugby. It's origin comes from a game that wrestlers would do during warm up sessions. They would carry a medicine ball and walk on their knees across the ring trying to score against their opponents on an improvised basket. From that point on, someone decided to turn it into a sport, and back in 2003 it for registered as an independent sport discipline in the Russian Sports State Committee.

RUGBY PLAYER PUNCHES AND KNOCKS REFEREE DOWN

A rugby player of the French team Saint Esteve was ejected from a match but, before leaving, he decided to show his disagreement with the referee by knocking him down. Some Toulouse players, the other team, reproached his attitude and they were also attacked.
